The road to Jannah

Ya abdallah, ya amatullah. On the suggestion of our very dear and precious sister, (see the comments for the previous input), I have decided to write about the road to Jannah. Gratitude for this beautiful suggestion.

It is generally known among most muslims that upholding good character traits such as honesty, kindness, patience, and humility, and showing kindness, compassion, and mercy towards others is highly encouraged in Islam. Some of these aspects have been covered in inputs like, “Good behaviour“, “Who do you want to be?“, “Easily angered or hurt? See this“… inputs that are dealing with human character. I advise to take a look at these inputs and remind yourselves of their message.

Surah Maryam 19:76
“And Allah doth advance in guidance those who seek guidance: and the things that endure, Good Deeds, are best in the sight of thy Lord, as rewards, and best in respect of (their) eventual return.”

One of the key components in increasing your faith and your focus towards the goal is an understanding. Seeking to keep that understanding alive and increasing it. The more we know about something… the bigger our attachment and loyalty towards it, inshallah. Those who know little simply follow an empty path of tradition and may soon lose interest. Which is why it feels appropriate to (yet again) put the following aya…

Surah Al-Baqara 2:269
He granteth wisdom to whom He pleaseth; and he to whom wisdom is granted receiveth indeed a benefit overflowing; but none will grasp the Message but men of understanding.

Surah Al-Baqara 2:269 is probably one of the most repeated ayat in my inputs. I tend to stress its importance. Muslims are encouraged to seek beneficial knowledge that enhances their understanding of Islam and their ability to practice it faithfully.
In seeking to understand your faith, (and thus increasing it), I can say, the reward is bigger than the reading itself.

I kept reading the Quran regularly. I believe that is a reason how I received responsibilities such as holding Khutba during Eids. And sometimes being asked questions and advise about Islamic matters from those who have been muslims longer than me. I never imagined I’d experience these things. He has given me the chance to speak to others, not just as a spiritual student of Islam asking questions, but as someone who’s words are listened to, alhamdulillah.

While there are many good deeds we can do in our striving to reach Jannah, perhaps the most important advise I can give to a muslim is this… make the Quran a more active part of your life. That is indeed a step that will influence your life in a good way and be a strong guide on the path to Jannah, inshallah. As a friend of mine said during Ramadan… “sometimes I go over the same verse and learn something new”. That’s certainly a strong confirmation of what I just wrote.

سورة المزمل ٢٠
فَٱقۡرَءُواْ مَا تَيَسَّرَ مِنۡهُۚ

Surah Al-Muzzammil 73:20
read ye, therefore, as much of the Qur’an as may be easy (for you)

It’s a good foundation to start with. There are many more things I could speak about regarding the path to Jannah that I may bring up. Let’s see what the next input brings, inshallah. For now… I hope you are all having a beautiful time indeed. Jumma mubarak everyone, I wish a day filled with peace and comfort, and many blessings to our dear sister for suggesting this beautiful topic.

The best of times to you all inshallah.
Peace, happiness, and stay faithful.
