Good behaviour

I have been meaning to post this for a while. It is the Khutba I held on Friday the 21st of January. I feel it has a lot of important points to consider and to remember while we face each day in our lives…

Like before, it is basically a summary of the topic that the imam was discussing in Arabic, to give those not knowledgeable in Arabic an idea of what was discussed…

The Khutba

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
Islam is a religion based on good behaviour. It is through our behaviour that we are tested daily. We are human beings. Not angels. The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said that all of Adam’s children make mistakes. But the best of Adam’s children are those who make mistakes, learn from them, and strive for improvement.
With wrong behaviour, there are some good practices and habits that we must learn.
For example:

  1. Your disobedience does not give you the right to do another sin. Such an act does not give you the right to abandon your obedience to God.
  2. If you commit a sin, watch out for people pointing it out and being proud of it. You should not love disobedience and therefore hate obedience as a result, and people who follow that path.
  3. The sins of others do not give you the right to be like them, for Allah will hold you solely responsible for your actions.
  4. Never commit a sin and then say, “this is what people do”.
  5. Do not commit sins and then ignore them and see them as small, for they turn into big sins if you insist and repeat them.
  6. Do not stop encouraging good and forbidding evil, even if you disobey God.
  7. The sin that you hide will be brought out by Allah, unless you regret and improve. Your life may end with it.

This also reminds us of what the Holy Qur’an says:

Surah Faatir 35:45
If Allah were to punish men according to what they deserve. He would not leave on the back of the (earth) a single living creature: but He gives them respite for a stated Term: when their Term expires, verily Allah has in His sight all His Servants.

There are many more routines I can mention but the point is to learn from your mistakes. To strive for improvement. We are tested and tried daily. The most important words we can remember are these…

سورة طه ١٥
إِنَّ السَّاعَةَ آتِيَةٌ أَكَادُ أُخْفِيهَا لِتُجْزَىٰ كُلُّ نَفْسٍ بِمَا تَسْعَىٰ

Surah Taa-Haa 20:15
“Verily the Hour is coming – My design is to keep it hidden – for every soul to receive its reward by the measure of its Endeavour.

A reminder

I felt this Khutba was well received and it contains important pointers that helps to remind us to do well in our lives, to strive in learning and growing as humans. If we stay still in our tracks we will never grow.

I would also like to take the opportunity to point readers to my last input and its importance. Your support is needed, let’s keep things going, inshallah.
I would like to thank all those who have taken steps to support and encourage my work. It truly warms my heart… so much so that I cried during salat at one point and had to start it from the beginning. It means the world to me and makes me feel that I am making a difference. May Allah bless and reward all of you.

I hope you found this input both helpful and inspiring.

The best of times to you all inshallah.
Peace, happiness, and stay faithful.

  1. Reading your words truly warms my heart . Sometimes, I feel like I’m the only person reasoning life to Allah, while others reason life to Dunya. I’m so happy that you are sharing what you learn with others that might have doubts concerning the matter.

    1. Alhamdulillah, it feels good to know that I am making a difference. Be sure that you are not alone and if the words I share help you, then I am so much happier for it 🌹😊
