How we face the world around us

Ya abdallah, ya amatullah, there is something important we need to consider as we face each day in this life… that is, our individual selves and how we perceive the world and the people around us. I touched the matter in an input some time ago, (called “Humans“), where I wrote the following words… and I would like you to consider the words as you read them…

“We put a group of people under the same light. It could be men. It could be women. It could be people of a certain culture, colour (ethnicity), religion, or profession. […] We mentally raise an “us and them” line of thinking, a barrier. The more differences that are added, the more “alien” a group or a person becomes. We start thinking generically so if a person does something wrong, we then blame it on the group.”

I think you see what I’m getting at. In that case however, I was generally describing groups, how we stereotypically define people, judging a person based on what background or gender that person has. In this input, I would like everyone to think on a more personal/individual level… how we perceive those around us, people in our lives.

Surah An-Najm 53:32
He knows you well when He brings you out of the earth, And when ye are hidden in your mothers’ wombs. Therefore justify not yourselves: He knows best who it is that guards against evil.

Our thoughts on people or situations are motivated by emotional and psychological factors.

سورة المعارج ١٩
إِنَّ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ خُلِقَ هَلُوعًا

Surah Al-Ma’aarij 70:19
Truly man was created very impatient

Our fears and our haste to accept or believe something often blinds us to a well known fact…

“Always remember that you are absolutely unique. Just like everyone else.”
Margaret Mead.

It is nothing new. We’ve heard that before, but we rarely consider it. When we start to scale off layers of superficial differences, we soon come to a very specific point which is the one thing that makes each person stand out… “character”. We each have people around us, mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters… some of which may be very close to us and yet we may at times think and act very differently from them. This, ya abdallah, ya amatullah, is what makes each person special. Individuality. Personality. Singularity. Character.

Why do we generalize? How can we start to notice what makes each person unique? How can that help us on our path to Jannah? This, my dear friends, is what I will discuss in more detail in the next input inshallah. Indeed, make sure not to miss it. But I will remind you all of the situation I described in my previous input. Should there be any delays, (Allah forbid), then keep the situation in mind.

For now, I wish a beautiful and blessed Friday to all of you. Jumma Mubarak, and a time full of safety and comfort inshallah, from the heart.

The best of times to you all inshallah.
Peace, happiness, and stay faithful.
