Powerstruggles have been a part of human history as far as we can remember. A reach for power. The current war in Sudan at the time I’m writing this is one of the latest. We also have the one in Ukraine that has been going on for a while now. Thinking about these things always leads me to ask… why?? What is it all for? Does the end justify the means? Most of these warmongers usually defend their actions by pointing fingers at the opposition. “We want to secure the nation.” or “we fight for the people.” It is common to hear similar arguments from either side.
Well, someone who puts their nation or the people first would go out of their way to make sure the people suffer no harm. (The people would rally behind such a leader.) But someone who does all he can to achieve his political ambitions while ignoring the consequnces of his actions, is very transparent. He is mainly motivated by self interests.
All humans have individual strengths and weaknesses. Where one person is weak another person is stronger, and vice versa… thus the two would ideally benefit each other. Why is it so hard for people to think like that? Why does it always have to be a competition? At the end of the day, isn’t life meant to be shared? Aren’t we living on this planet together? No one owns the planet they live on. Not one. Except for its Creator. How quickly we forget Him in the different pursuits of this life…
سورة القيامة ٣٦
أَيَحْسَبُ الْإِنسَانُ أَن يُتْرَكَ سُدًى
سورة البقرة ٢٠
وَلَوْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ لَذَهَبَ بِسَمْعِهِمْ وَأَبْصَارِهِمْ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ
سورة العلق ٧-٦
كَلَّا إِنَّ الْإِنسَانَ لَيَطْغَىٰ
أَن رَّآهُ اسْتَغْنَىٰ
Surah Al-Qiyaama 75:36
Does man think that he will be left uncontrolled, (without purpose)?
Surah Al-Baqara 2:20
And if Allah willed, He could take away their faculty of hearing and seeing; for Allah hath power over all things.
Surah Al-Alaq 96:6-7
Nay, but man doth transgress all bounds,
In that he looketh upon himself as self-sufficient.
The world and its people belong to Him. I have friends in Sudan who have suffered. Some have had to leave their home and all their belongings to escape the dangers. Let us keep our Sudanese brothers and sisters in our thoughts and prayers, and I humbly ask you to make Dua’a for them. May Allah bless and protect all muslims who suffer in these times from harm, and lead them to safety and light. Amin.
