People who care

Have you ever sometimes been in a dark corner, wanting to somehow escape reality, to just fade away, feeling the weight of the world on your shoulders? Humans generally tend to have their ups and downs. It may be due to a number of different reasons, personal issues, work related issues, health related issues, sometimes a number of them combined… and when the pressure becomes too much, it sometimes drives people to put up a barrier in an attempt to somehow shield themselves from everything…

I have personally experienced such a period recently… someone close to me, who tried to reach out to me, reminded me of the importance of keeping the door open at least enough to let them know you are ok. Even the brothers at the local masjid experienced the same just the other week when I was pushing my own limits in terms of health and what I was capable of. As I was difficult to get hold of, they were even considering coming to my apartment to see that I was ok. Thinking back on all that’s happened, it really warms the heart so much. It is in such times you are reminded that you have a purpose… you are not just a machine, a cog in the wheel, a means to an end, a drop in the ocean… there are people who care about you… and that is a beautiful blessing from our Creator that we should be both grateful for and take good care of.

But just as it is important for us to remember the people who care about us, it is equally important for those of us who reach out to a person. Try to be patient with those who are in a dark spot. Don’t give up on this person in a time when they need you. We should remind ourselves that every breath we take in this lifetime we owe to our Creator… we also owe Him for the friendships and the relations we have with people that He has put in our lives for a reason.

سورة الفرقان ٢٠
وَجَعَلْنَا بَعْضَكُمْ لِبَعْضٍ فِتْنَةً أَتَصْبِرُونَ ۗ وَكَانَ رَبُّكَ بَصِيرًا

Surah Al-Furqaan 25:20
We have made some of you as a trial for others: will ye have patience? for Allah is One Who sees (all things).

My grandmother once made a wall decoration with the words… “Love me the most when I deserve it the least, because then I need it the most”. God bless her soul. Praise be to Him, the One to whom we owe our lives.

Be grateful for the ones in your life who care, remember to treat them with gratitude and respect, and at the same time, be patient with those who need it.

I hope that you found this an inspiring input and that it has brought something to consider.

The best of times to you all inshallah.
Peace, happiness, and stay faithful.
