The first week of Ramadan has more or less passed. I hope things have started well for all of you and that you are having a good time. While the month of Ramadan is related to fasting, it is equally related to the reading of the Quran. It is a routine I endeavour to keep alive even before and after Ramadan. As I wrote in the article “The guiding light”… “Until this day, it is a routine I try to keep to as much as possible… and even now, years from the time I first opened the Quran, I still learn from it”. Indeed, during a very recent discussion, a friend of mine even said, “sometimes I go over the same verse and learn something new”. Subhanallah.
سورة النساء ١٧٤
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ قَدۡ جَآءَكُم بُرۡهَٰنٞ مِّن رَّبِّكُمۡ وَأَنزَلۡنَآ إِلَيۡكُمۡ نُورٗا مُّبِينٗا
سورة الواقعة ٨٠
تَنزِيلٞ مِّن رَّبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
Surah An-Nisaa 4:174
O mankind! verily there hath come to you a convincing proof from your Lord: For We have sent unto you a light (that is) manifest.
Surah Al-Waaqia 56:80
A revelation from the Lord of the Worlds.
سورة البقرة ٢٦٩
وَمَن يُؤۡتَ ٱلۡحِكۡمَةَ فَقَدۡ أُوتِيَ خَيۡرٗا كَثِيرٗاۗ
سورة المزمل ٢٠
فَٱقۡرَءُواْ مَا تَيَسَّرَ مِنۡهُۚ
Surah Al-Baqara 2:269
and whoever is given wisdom has been given much good
Surah Al-Muzzammil 73:20
read ye, therefore, as much of the Qur’an as may be easy (for you)
Indeed it may be helpful in facing each day and its challenges. Keep the routine going. Open your mind to understanding what you read. In the end, it is a blessing beyond measure which we should all place great value on. May your days of reading the Quran continue to bless you with increased faith, wisdom, and positive energy, inshallah, during this Ramadan and onwards.
سورة الرعد ٣١
وَلَوۡ أَنَّ قُرۡءَانٗا سُيِّرَتۡ بِهِ ٱلۡجِبَالُ أَوۡ قُطِّعَتۡ بِهِ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ أَوۡ كُلِّمَ بِهِ ٱلۡمَوۡتَىٰۗ
Surah Ar-Ra’d 13:31
If there were a Qur’an with which mountains were moved, or the earth were cloven asunder, or the dead were made to speak, (this would be the one!)
