Al-Basir (البصير)

Al-Basir (البصير), the All Seeing… when talked about, Allah is often perceived in this way… an “observer”, someone who watches over humanity…

Surah Al-An’aam 6:103
No vision can grasp Him, but His grasp is over all vision

In that sense, we get the idea that He watches over us from a distance, an idea strengthened also by the fact that we look up to the sky as a place where we will find Him… Allah, the Master of the universe… up there, among the clouds, looking down on us. Many of us are aware of the Quranic teachings, that He is constantly among us and that we depend on Him, but we may not fully comprehend just how near to us He actually is. I decided to share my thoughts on this…

Read and consider the following words closely… you may have read these words countless times before but try to consider them in more depth… what are the words actually saying?

Surah Ar-Room 30:54
He creates as He wills, and it is He Who has all knowledge and power.

Surah Yunus 10:100
No soul can believe, except by the will of Allah, and He will place doubt (or obscurity) on those who will not understand.

Surah Al-Baqara 2:255
Nor shall they compass aught of His knowledge except as He willeth.

Surah Al-Baqara 2:148
Wheresoever ye are, Allah will bring you Together. For Allah Hath power over all things.

Just an observer?

Surah Az-Zumar 39:42
It is Allah that takes the souls (of men) at death; and those that die not (He takes) during their sleep: those on whom He has passed the decree of death, He keeps back (from returning to life), but the rest He sends (to their bodies) for a term appointed verily in this are Signs for those who reflect.

Most of the ayat we have just read can be connected to the following statement…

Surah Qaaf 50:16
We are nearer to him than (his) jugular vein.

Next time we look up to the sky in search of Allah… we might remember that He is actually a lot closer than we realize. And remembering that He is this close may help us to gain a new and deeper appreciation for the following words…

Surah Al-Baqara 2:214
Verily, the help of Allah is (always) near!

Surah Aal-i-Imraan 3:160
If Allah helps you, none can overcome you: If He forsakes you, who is there, after that, that can help you? in Allah, then, Let believers put their trust.

I hope you found this an interesting input and that it brought something to consider.

The best of times to you all inshallah.
Peace, happiness, and stay faithful.
